I would like to become an MTN Zakhele Futhi shareholder

To become an MTN Zakhele Futhi shareholder you are required to meet the following criteria:

  • You must be an eligible shareholder in terms of the MTN Zakhele Futhi scheme rules
  • You must have completed the BEE verification process and become a verified shareholder

Who is eligible to hold MTN Zakhele Futhi shares?

Black People: Black People (African, Coloured and Indian people) who are natural persons and citizens of South Africa by birth or descent; or who are citizens through naturalisation before 27 April 1994 or after that date, but who would have qualified for naturalisation before that date.
Minors (i.e. a Black Person below 18 years of age) must be assisted by their parent or legal guardian.
Black Groups: Black Companies and Black Entities, as defined. In summary terms, these are companies or entities incorporated or formed in South Africa and in which Black People own at least 51% of the equity, exercise at least 51% of the voting rights and participate in at least 51% of the economic interests therein, on a flow-through basis.

MTN Zakhele Futhi shareholders can trade their shares using one of the following trading processes and are required to be verified under that trading process:

Facilitated Trading Process

All MTN Zakhele Futhi shareholders, electing to use NPW as their broker, are required to complete an application form prior to opening their trading account.

Individual shareholders

Individual shareholders can complete this form online or manually. As part of the registration process you will also be required to agree to the Facilitated Trading Process Verification Terms and Conditions.

Only once the BEE Verification Agent has confirmed that you are a "verified" shareholder will you be able to access your NPW trading account.

Groups

Groups wishing to become MTN Zakhele Futhi shareholders can only complete their application forms manually.

Only once the BEE Verification Agent has confirmed that you are an "eligible" shareholder will you be able to access your NPW trading account and accept the Facilitated Trading Process Verification Terms and Conditions.

Independent Trading Process

All MTN Zakhele Futhi shareholders, electing to use their own broker or agent to hold and trade their MTN Zakhele Futhi shares are required to complete the BEE Verification Process manually.

As part of the BEE Verification Process you are required to submit the following documents to the BEE Verification Agent:

  • Application Form
  • Independent Trading Process BEE Verification Terms Acceptance Form
  • BEE Contract
  • Share Transfer Form
  • Independent Trading Process Verification Terms and Conditions
  • Acceptable broker mandate
